If you've watched any of my YouTube videos, you may have seen me mention the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme* (£27.50/150ml). Until recently my pre shampoo treatments have always been a hot oil treatment and I've never tried anything else. Then I found this gem.
The Elasticizer Extreme is a more intensive version of the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Pre Shampoo Treatment. This treatment was originally created for Audrey Hepburn who wanted a conditioner that allowed her hair to maintain body. The pre shampoo element allows the product to deep condition without leaving hair limp.
As well as leaving hair with body, the Elasticizer Extreme does exactly what you might think - it adds elasticity to the hair with elastin. When I first tried it I couldn't really notice a difference but with continued use I've seen a real change in my hair. It resists damage much better and feels stronger when it's wet.
It's a very thick but smooth texture and the ingredients include glycerine, castor oil and olive oil. I apply this throughout damp hair, concentrating most on the ends. I leave it on for 10-15 minutes, using the shower cap provided. You can leave it on for longer or even overnight to allow it to soak into the strands better.
I don't find the product heavy at all as it's a pre shampoo treatment. I think those with finer hair would have to go easy on the application though, perhaps only reserving the product for the hair ends. This product is made for all hair types, but is especially good for chemically treated and Afro/Caribbean hair. It's suggested that you wait at least 2 days before and after chemical treatments to use this product as it can prevent the chemical treatment from taking.
I've developed a love for this product and I would consider buying it when it runs out. My only gripe is how much it costs. I've had the product for almost 8 weeks and I'm about half way through so it at least lasts a long time.
