Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip Swatches [Video]

I've wanted to try Colourpop for the longest time but getting your hands on this brand is a little trickier if you're a Brit. The company don't deliver to the UK so when my family took a trip to Florida a few weeks ago I asked if they'd grab me a few of the Ultra Satin Lip shades. Whilst the Colourpop does have a few swatch examples on their website, I picked most of the shades by watching videos on YouTube and I love every single one of the 5 I have. I'm really grateful for the videos that steered me towards my choices so put together my own swatch video in the hope that it helps someone else. I talk more about the product itself in the video below.

How To | Smooth Edges [Video]

I've been smoothing my edges down using pretty much the same method for a couple of years so thought I'd dedicate an entire video to it to show exactly what I do. I'm definitely looking to be more active on YouTube now as I've finally got the hang of making and editing videos so if there's anything specific you'd like to see next let me know in the comments.

Trend On Trial with Intu

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you'll know that throughout March and April I've been trialing the hottest SS16 beauty trends for Intu* along with some other beauty bloggers. Intu owns various shopping centres across the UK and their newly established online lifestyle magazine Inspire Me keeps abreast of the latest fashion trends.

Even though I am a beauty blogger I rarely make dramatic changes to my makeup day-to-day and experiment even less with trends. Often before I can master one trend the industry has moved onto the next! I've only just got to grips with basic contouring whilst strobing, clown contouring, baking and everything in between has passed me by. It's been exciting to take a minute to try different looks myself and it's reminded me how versatile my recently down-sized makeup collection is. You can read more about the trends and how the other beauty bloggers recreated them by clicking the links below. There are also a few snaps showing my take on the trends and step by step videos from Intu if you're interested in trying the trends for yourself.

Trend 4: Cool Girl Grunge

I loved most of the trends here though I can't say I'll be rushing to try blue eyeshadow again. I'm very comfortable in vampy or bright red lipstick but for some reason rocking cobalt-toned eyes is too bold for me. Plus the bright shade of blue eyeshadow seen here (FYI the only one I had on hand) seemed to clash with my mainly navy wardrobe. The grunge look was my favourite overall and you can expect me to be wearing darker lipsticks and kohl liner more often.

Fluffy Twistout Tutorial [Video]

It's been a really long time since I've tried a twistout on my hair surprisingly as this used to be my go-to style. I stuck to only creating a few twists on wet hair and the result was big fluffed up curls. See the video below for how I did it.

Review | Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield

I've been shaking up my skincare and makeup routine with a few new products including this Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield (£55).* The Invisiblur is a 5-in-1 product which Murad claims can replace your skin treatment, primer and SPF to blur fine lines and combat the signs of aging. It's made with mushroom peptides, barley, sunflower and cucumber extracts which are stated to all work together to give the skin a youthful appearance and moisture.

Whilst I've been familiar with the Murad brand for some time, I've never actually bought their products before, mostly as they're a little out of my price range. I've often tried samples (free with fashion magazines) and loved them so I had high hopes for the Invisiblur. You can wear this product alone, but I've mostly been using it as a primer, underneath makeup. It has a gel-like texture which feels light on the skin. You don't need much product and it blurs the skin texture, reducing the look of pores instantly. For me the smoothing effect was most noticeable after applying makeup. My foundation sits better and is much smoother, so I've been relying on this product daily for the past couple of months. I haven't yet noticed any improvement in fine lines or wrinkles, though that's not a major skin concern of mine currently. I've still got quite a lot of product left too so perhaps I'll see an improvement with my skin in months to come.

I love that this product has SPF as I'm always conscious of wearing sun protection. Products with SPF I've tried in the past have often left my oil-prone skin greasy. The Invisiblur is not oily and as it can be used as a moisturiser it is ideal for combination skin. The transparent formula means it doesn't make my foundation look ghostly either. The flaw however is that you only need to apply a very small amount of this product (as it has a tendency to ball up if you use too much), so it's questionable how much sun protection it provides to my face.

I do love it as a primer and will continue to use the Invisiblur but I can't help be disappointed that I may still also need to use SPF separately to protect my skin from the sun. Would I buy it? Only if Murad started making a smaller bottle a third of the price. It's a great product but £55 is too pricey for me.

Review | Elie Beaumont Oxford Large Watch

I don't wear many accessories but I'm never without a watch. A watch is an essential part of my outfit and my wrist simply feels naked without one. I've built up quite a collection of watches, though they all have one thing in common - they're incredibly simple. Even with the rise of 'smart watches' which can deliver texts and social media updates literally at an arm's length, is it weird that I just want a watch to tell me the time? It has to look beautiful too and for me nothing can compete with a classic minimal design.

Elie Beaumont is a relatively new watch brand. I was sent their Oxford Large Watch in Rose Gold with a Navy Nappa Leather Strap (£49)*. I've wanted a Rose Gold watch for the longest time, but the one on my wishlist was triple the price of this watch. Elie Beaumont watches come boxed with a cute tan leatherette pouch to protect them from dust and scratches. It was a lovely addition for a low priced item. The pictures speak for themselves but I am amazed at the quality of this watch considering the price.

Due to the simplistic design this watch isn't bulky or heavy to wear. The only negative I've found is that you may have to add an extra hole on the strap if you have tiny wrists (it fits my wrist at the tightest option).

Overall it's a beautiful watch and if I need another I know where I'll be heading first. You can get Elie Beaumont watches on their website.

Style | ASOS Midi Column Dress in Stripe

I've always found navigating the British weather around fashion posts pretty tricky. Whilst I'm excited for Spring, yesterday proved that the British weather remains extremely changeable. Gloriously sunny one minute. Dull drizzly weather the next. This means there's no detail shots here, just a couple of outfit snaps before the rain poured. I'm still hopeful there'll be a few more sunny days to come though!

Despite the rain it's great to see the back of Winter, especially now there's a chance I can actually go out bare-legged. I've always found shorter dresses unflattering on me so I tend to prefer midi dresses now over any other length. I got this midi column dress from ASOS to round off my wardrobe for the Spring/Summer months and it's slotted in perfectly. I bought the tall version but it's also available in petite and regular which is definitely something I love about ASOS' own brand of clothing. This midi can be easily dressed up or down too. Here I wore this striped dress with a pair of heeled sandals (also from ASOS last year) but often I'll keep my look more relaxed and mix this dress with my other summer shoe staples from 2015.
