Hair Cut | July 2015

It's always around this time of year that I get the itch to cut my hair shorter. I'm transitioning to texlaxed (more info here) and I said at the beginning of the year that I'd keep my transition long-term and refrain from major chops to keep some of the length. In reality it's been really hard to not cut my hair and over the past few months I've chopped off whole sections (both the front and back parts of my hair are now fully texlaxed). I then tried to distract myself from cutting altogether by experimenting with lace wigs which worked really well, but the last couple of months without the wigs has made the desire to speed up my transition overwhelming.

So the inevitable happened. I started by cutting 2 inches in June and I cut another 3 inches last week. My hair was the longest it's been (ever) but I just couldn't deal with the stringy ends anymore so they had to go. My hair is now about bra strap length stretched and it hasn't been this length since my last major chop in June 2014.

I couldn't be more excited about being closer to ending my transition and my daily buns have the same amount of volume so I don't feel as sad to lose the length as I thought I would. Unless I'm wearing my hair down it's not even noticeable that I've cut so much off. I'm tempted to cut off even more but I'm going to make myself wait a little longer so I have more hair to work with. I thought about how long I've actually been transitioning to this texture and going through old blog posts (see here and here) made me realise it's actually only been a year and a half. I guess I just need to be a little more patient and in a few more months I can eventually say I have fully texlaxed hair!

What have you been doing to your hair lately?
